Final conference of the project Foreign Workers in Social Sector

On 22 May 2024, the final conference of the Foreign Workers in Social Sector project (No. 2021-1-CZ01-KA220-VET-000025630) took place in Mikulov.

The aim of the conference was to present the outputs of the project to representatives of social service providers and to discuss their benefits with them. At the beginning, a representative of CRA UZS presented the objectives of the project. These were to create a set of tools that would help personnel managers in social services to integrate foreign workers in the social services sector. This is because foreign workers have difficult conditions when entering the labour market, for example because of language and cultural barriers, but also because of employers' lack of confidence in their abilities and prejudices on the part of both employers and employees. For this reason, the project has developed a training programme that focuses specifically on removing barriers to the integration of foreign workers, as well as a "Guidelines and Recommendations" document that serves to better understand the whole issue.

This was followed by a more detailed presentation of the individual project outputs, namely the Partner Country Analysis, the Guidelines and Recommendations and the training programme, including its online version (Massive Open Online Course). The outputs were presented by representatives of each project partner, with interpretation provided. In the second part of the conference, representatives of 3 foreign organisations shared their experiences of employing foreign workers in Ireland, Greece and England.

The conference was attended by a total of 82 people and all members of the implementation team of the partner organisations. Printed material "Guidelines and Recommendations" was also distributed at the conference. This was perceived as very useful by the participants.
